A list of commonly asked questions and answers about Open Cambridge.
Q. Why do some events have a small capacity?
We limit the number of spaces available on some events to ensure that they can be enjoyed safely by those attending and can be managed successfully.
Q. Why do events take place during the week?
Most events are run by members of staff during their working hours.
Q. Why do some events only take place once?
Most events are taking place in a place of work and organisations are unable to offer multiple dates and times for this reason.
Q. How do you choose who takes part in Open Cambridge?
Any organisation that meets the criteria can submit an event to Open Cambridge. We invite all Colleges and University departments to take part; it is ultimately their decision to do so.
Q. Do I have to book on events?
Each event is organised slightly differently. Please read the instructions on the event page. Some events may require pre-booking. Others do not. If organisers contact details are on the event page, please contact them with any questions directly.
If there are no organiser details on the event page, contact the Festival team for assistance, being sure to reference the title of the specific event in question.
Q. How do I cancel my ticket?
If your ticket is booked through Eventbrite, please follow their instructions: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/575010/how-to-cancel-your-free-registration/. Otherwise please contact the event organiser.
Q. Is there a printed programme?
A PDF version of the programme is available on the website which is downloadable and can be printed.
Q. Can I turn up to a fully booked event if I haven’t booked a ticket?
While we do expect some bookable events to have no-shows, it is impossible for us to predict this, and we cannot guarantee you will be able to join the event.
Q. I’m running late, is that a problem?
Please get in touch with the event organiser to let them know you are running late. We cannot guarantee entry if an event has already started.
